What is Targeted Marketing as a Service?
A turnkey service to augment your current marketing outreach
Many distributors struggle to be successful with targeted marketing due to lack of staff/personnel hours and technical know-how. Targeted Marketing as a Service (TMaaS), powered by SMP was born out of this need: the distributor’s desire to kick-start targeted marketing efforts that had previously stagnated or been lacking within their organizations.
With decades of industry experience – based on hands-on working knowledge of distributorships, best practices coaching, industry research and the development of best-in-class data-mining tools, The SMP Team can now bring TMaaS to the marketplace, allowing distributors to focus on what they’re doing best – selling, maximizing vendor relationships, and managing their customer experience – while SMP takes the pressure off from a marketing perspective.
Simple, Straightforward Pricing
Given the range of distributor sizes and needs, The SMP Team has developed four packages to assist distributors with TMaaS – built for what the distributor needs now, and allows for additional growth into the future.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get started?
Getting started is easy.
Simply book a 15-minute call with us to discuss your current strategies and where you’d like to take your targeted marketing initiatives. We’ll help you choose the plan that is right for you.
Once we begin, we’ll simply collect the data you currently have depending on your plan (e.g., email lists, ERP data, POS data). Then we’ll work with you for an annual content plan so your marketing is as turnkey and dependable as possible.
What is a campaign or campaign track?
A campaign track is one set of emails around a chosen/targeted theme. These may include:
- General Newsletter
- Product Promotions
- Vendor Co-Marketing
- Company Events and Trainings – inclusive of things such as counter days, lunch and learns, customer appreciation days, vendor days, etc.
You choose your desired audience, provide us an upload of the contact email list, and we handle the rest. You get the benefit of a turnkey system of steady, brand-building marketing emails with very little extra effort from your team.
What are Targeted Email Blasts?
Targeted email blasts are tailored to a target audience. Rather than general messaging to all contacts, these emails are based on customer buying behavior (cross/up sell opportunities based on past purchases, declining sales, etc.) or customer profile (geographic location, size, type of customer, etc.). Targeted emails have a defined target audience, and are intended to help drive desired behaviors – increased purchasing, more products-per-order, improving product mix, and securing brand loyalty.
How do data loads work?
Data Loads are simply the manner in which you’ll provide us with your data – depending on your plan, this can consist of simply submitting a master contact/email list once a year, or could include additional items such as company lists and transactional history to help us target the right customers with the right messaging. Data can be provided to SMP via email, or secure FTP transfer on a scheduled basis, depending on the plan you select. But don’t worry – the process is straightforward, and likely can be run based on reports you already have available from your business system/ERP, and/or existing CRM.
What is a planning session?
Planning Sessions allow us to learn more about your company, your marketing efforts to date, and determine opportunities for growth. We will discuss your goals for growing your business, investigate the data you have available in your business system/ERP and/or existing CRM tools, and then work with you to develop a plan of action that meets your needs!
What is a customer survey?
A Customer Survey, much like the Planning Session, is designed with your business and goals in mind. This is your opportunity to learn how customers perceive your business, staff, product offerings, marketing content and more! You can use the results of Customer Surveys to improve or sharpen internal processes, the products and services you provide, and drive goals for future marketing efforts.
What is a Social Post?
